Six pairs of hands, a workshop on Saint-Paul East, and the conviction that jewelry isn't an accessory — it's something you pass down.
Our story
Maison Aurélia was born in 2018, in a basement on Saint-Paul East in Montréal. Léa Aurélia Tremblay, trained at the Montréal School of Jewelry and then at Le Arti Orafe Academy in Florence, wanted to bring back what twenty years of industrialization had pushed to the margins: slowness, gesture, responsibility.
Seven years later, the workshop has grown without changing its philosophy. Six pairs of hands, two precious machines (a rolling mill and a laser welder), a shared foundry in Mile-End, and a single gold supplier — Stuller, RJC-certified, 100% recycled.
No dormant stock. No disposable seasonal collections. Every piece you see on this site was designed to be worn for thirty years, polished every twelve months, and one day passed down.
100% recycled, certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council. No gold extracted for Maison Aurélia. Our supplier publishes a traceability report each year — available on request.
Diamonds, emeralds, rubies: all our crystals are lab-grown. Identical chemical composition, hardness and brilliance to mined stones — without the human or environmental cost. IGI certificates provided.
No piece is produced in more than 50 copies. Every jewel is numbered, engraved, and ships with a certificate of authenticity signed by the jeweler who made it.
The process
It all starts on paper. An idea, sometimes a commission, sometimes an obsession. The sketch lives, is revisited, validated as a team before moving to 3D CAD.
The 3D model is printed in high-resolution wax, hand-retouched, then injected into a plaster mold. At 720 °C, the wax vanishes — and molten gold takes its place.
Every stone is set by hand under binoculars. An operation that takes four to eight hours for a piece set with five diamonds.
Polishing in three passes (paper, brush, felt), laser engraving of the serial number, quality control, signed case. Twenty-two steps. No shortcuts.
Bespoke
Recasting a grandmother's wedding band, designing an engagement ring from a sketch, transforming an heirloom sleeping in a drawer: this is the most intimate service we offer.
Allow six to ten weeks, two or three workshop meetings, and a budget starting at $1,800. We can work from your own gold if you wish: it will be melted, recycled and redrawn into the piece you'll wear.
